Often heard the question in the past, how will WWFF go on. Very easy answer, WWFF goes on in the future as it started as a very interesting program, which gives a lot of portable operators a new view in our beautiful nature. When starting in 2009 it was absolutely fantastic to see, what real great pile-ups resulted in just visiting a beautiful part of the nature.

All attempts from the former russian founder RW3GW to convert it into a commercial business failed. There were very bad new feelings for those who payed for awards and plaques in the past which were never sent and probably never produced by the orginal founder RW3GW.

After we all left RW3GW and we founded a new team again this time Igor EW4DX simply stopped with the upload of logs. Several kind attempts failed to get the work of the activators back. I agree that really Igor built up the first database, but the data were not his own. All that was done by you, the activators, the real essence of WWFF. So my proposal to him was simply to give out the mails with the logs as they were not his personal ownership but he finally doesn´t reply at all and it seems that he believe they belong to him.

With the new start now everything is open. M6ADB Andrew together with a team developed a new logsearch-program. We are actually in the process to get logs from previous activations. Meanwhile more than 1000 logs till today were received here and will be uploaded in an automatic batch process.

Additionally more than 500 german logs plus additionally the more than 250 received since june 2012 are also save and will be inserted in the system.

There are already more than 2200 logs in the system and we will continue. We probably never get all previous logs together but it´s up to you probably help us. All new inserted logs will be also mirrored to two additional servers to have an end of any monopolism.

My WFF-major activities started during 2009 and reached an extreme top-level during 2010.
I have actually far more than 2000 confirmed WFF-contacts in the database and around 1200 confirmed references. Nearly whole 2010 I worked by „to work“-lists, put up my own WFF-blog and had around 250 unique visitors each day on the web-site. My focus at the beginning of 2010 was to reach the plaques and as a long-distance plan to reach the globe 500. However things changed rapidly and the community as well as the activities were growing dramatically. This resulted finally that just before I went off the air in november 2010 I already had more than 1000 WFFs confirmed.
The WFF-globe is an extremely professional produced product, which is not cheap however looking great.
Got my globe 1000 number 1 just some weeks ago via registered mail from russia. The weight is more than 2,5 kg.

My xyl just occupied it for the living-room. She said it´s looking to good just to stay in the shack.

More than one year after applying for the honor-roll-plaques, I got it in good condition but of course very delayed, hi.
There shall be a new management-system for the plaques and globes available in a short time according the info from Valery RW3GW.
However of course it´s a problem, because when I made this plaques, it was an honor, however meanwhile with the flood of new WFFs it´s very easy to claim several hundreds in a short time, so I think management is not fast enough for the rapid changes in the past. I personally remember the time when it was tough to get the next level with 50 WFFs. When I ended with my hunting in november you could get sometimes 20 new WFFs on a weekend.
I never heard anything again from RFF-honor-roll. I applied in october 2009. Still asked for again but no reply, seems that this plaque no more exist, but anyway, strange.

after almost two years of more or less successful WFF-hunting I´ve decided to push the brake and stop.

There are a few reasons who brought me to this decision. Against earlier times where activations lasted for one or two days and you really had some real chances the operations today become shorter and shorter. Lot of operations happens during the week and also on the weekends they start at 0800 and end at 1000. Divided by probably three active bands there is a small window where you can work the operation of probably 30 minutes, if conditions allow.

This results nearly in work because there are sometimes 20 operations on a weekend. Also one operation hands out two or better three different numbers with one QSO, if you miss them…

So I very well remember to the times where you worked a new one, they wanted to show the hunters the beauty of the landscape there and often sended out also QSL-cards with some motive from the area. Remember also Jurijs operations with own videos about the landscape.

Today is only important one counter, best to give out 1 hour later the next counter or better to give out two new ones. So thats no longer what I want.

I would recommend all operations, to use only one call, because otherwise the big guns get them two or three times and the small ones remain empty.

I would also suggest, that the commitee thinks about a minimum-QSO rule, that operations qualify only if there was a number of contacts made (of course needs to be fixed, how many)

I would suggest that there are only plaques or similar available, if they can be delivered in a acceptable time. So in my case I am still waiting for plaque 100, 150, 200, 250, however have actually more than 650 confirmed. So when the plaque anytime really arrives it will be not a great moment of honor.

I would also recommend that the rules for handing out WFF-numbers are equal in each country. There are countries where nearly everything counts as a new one, in other countries the list is closed. So its only fair if all rules are  similar in each country.

From my side I will continue to try to do some activations and make also few contacts for fun but end with the attempt to be in the higher regions.

I have a job and a family and want to do beside something else.

So have fun with WFF-hunting but don´t forget the real spirit
